Evergreen Hikers, One Popular Trailhead Is Finally Reopening
Alderfer/Three Sisters Park West Trailhead Improvements
Jefferson County Open Space is improving the West Trailhead at Alderfer/Three Sisters Park, including expanding the existing parking lot, replacing the existing restroom and kiosk, installing improved signage, and improving Bluebird Meadow Trail and Wild Iris Trail. The West Trailhead and adjacent roadside parking will be closed from May 2025 until spring of 2026. Parking will remain open at the East Trailhead and during non-school hours at Wilmot Elementary School. Limited roadside parking will be available adjacent to the East Trailhead.
In addition to the Alderfer/Three Sisters West Trailhead Improvement project, Jefferson County Transportation & Engineering will be improving Jefferson County Road 73 from May 2025 – November 2025. Expect additional congestion in downtown Evergreen and along County Road 73.
Flying J Ranch Park, Meyer Ranch Park, and Lair o’ the Bear Park provide similar opportunities to Alderfer/Three Sisters Park and will be minimally impacted by any summer closures and/or construction work.
