Like much of the entire State of Colorado, Jefferson County remains in an Extreme to Exceptional drought condition.  Evergreen Metropolitan District continues to monitor the Upper Bear Creek Water Basin for precipitation and  snow pack.  The water stored in the upper basin in the form of snowpack and soil moisture remains low.  The prediction for the winter and spring months continues to call for lower than normal precipitation with higher than normal temperatures.  The current Evergreen Metropolitan District drought status continues to be in drought conditions. Without significant snow accumulations during the February to April season, the outlook for the summer is not good and will most likely require EMD to move into a Drought Level status early in the year.  Drought Level 2 and 3 will require mandatory reduction in water use, and drought penalty rates will apply.
