Evergreen Library is a 17,367 square foot library constructed in 1993 and nestled into the hillside just south of Historic Downtown Evergreen. We've begun planning for a major redesign of the library in 2022-2023.

Our vision for the Evergreen Library Redesign Project is for an updated library that is welcoming to all, where the patron experience is one of absolute delight, and where residents feel respected and understood by the library. We also want to align the redesign with our mission and vision of a 21st century library, while upgrading and modernizing resources, spaces, technology, mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems in the building.

Project Updates

Evergreen Library is closed for pre-construction move out activites. There is a returns bin available 24/7 as you enter the Evergreen Library parking lot. The Bookmobile will stop at Evergreen Library from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. every Sunday and Tuesday. Keep an eye on our events calendar for your favorite programs happening throughout the Evergreen area.

The Evergreen Redesign Project is being led by Eppstein Uhen Architects (EUA). EUA’s portfolio of work includes the renovation of the Columbine Library and other local Library systems’ locations, such as the 21c Library in Colorado Springs. Two leading experts in educational and community-forward design, Kelly Wemple and Ryan Wallace, are the Project Leads.

  • How long will Evergreen Library be closed?

We are unable to fully predict the reopening of the Evergreen Library. Our hope is that the redesign project will finish in Spring 2024. Stay up to date and learn more at jeffcolibrary.org/evergreen-redesign

  • What should I do about my holds at Evergreen?

After August 20, 2023, all Evergreen holds will be automatically sent to Golden Library, 1019 10th St, Golden, CO 80401. This includes all holds that are ready for pickup, holds that are in transit, Prospector and Mobius holds, and interlibrary loans.
If you would like to select a different pick-up location for holds not yet in transit, you may do so online or by calling 303.235.5275. We are not able to change the pickup location for in transit, Prospector, Mobius or interlibrary loan holds.
The Bookmobile will be delivering holds and small browsable collection to the Evergreen area twice weekly on Sundays and Tuesdays from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. If you would like to use this service to pick up your holds, please select Evergreen Bookmobile as a pickup location. You can find the Bookmobile in the Evergreen parking lot during the first few weeks as we work to identify a more permanent location for the duration of the closure.
As always, we will continue to notify you when your materials are ready for pick up.

  • What about Prospector, Mobius and Interlibrary Loan holds at Evergreen?

Due to certain limitations within their systems, we are not able to change the pickup location for Mobius, Prospector or Interlibrary Loan items. If you would like to pick up these items somewhere other than Golden Library, please call us when you receive notice that the item is ready for pick up and we will do our best reroute them to the location of your choice. Note: this may take additional processing time for you to receive your item.

  • Where can I go to use library services while Evergreen is closed?

Materials can be returned at any JCPL location, or at the 24-hour returns bin that will be located in the parking lot of the Evergreen Library during the first few weeks as we work to identify a more permanent location for the duration of the closure.

Browse our events calendar to find some of your favorite Evergreen library programs at offsite locations in the community throughout the closure. Our other great libraries continue to offer all of our other services, like Story Times, Book a Librarian and computer classes. The closest JCPL library services to Evergreen Library are Conifer Library, Mountain Resource Holds Locker and Golden Library. Explore additional locations at jeffcolibrary.org.

The Bookmobile will also be delivering holds and small browsable collection to the Evergreen area twice weekly on Sundays and Tuesdays from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. If you would like to use this service to pick up your holds, please select “Evergreen Bookmobile” as a pickup location. You will have 14 days to pick up items from the Evergreen Bookmobile. You can find the Bookmobile in the Evergreen parking lot during the first few weeks as we work to identify a more permanent location for the duration of the closure.

  • How do I change my hold pickup location?

To change the pickup location of a single hold, log into your Account by clicking on the purple Log In / My Account button, then select On Hold. For the hold you want to change, click on the location listed under "Pick up at" and select another location from the dropdown. The change will be automatically saved. Please note that hold pickup location cannot be changed after an item is in transit or after it is ready for pick up.
