Thank you for your interest in this project!

Project Overview:

Jefferson County received a federal grant from the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) for the reconstruction of Jefferson County Highway 73 (JC-73) from Colorado State Highway 74 to Buffalo Park Road. A study of Highway 73 corridor identified safety improvements. The selected safety improvements include enhancing turn lanes, installing pedestrian facilities, improving the drainage along the roadway and replacing the failing existing drainage structures, and providing additional public parking near downtown Evergreen.

This project was awarded to FNF Construction.

Project Scope:

Construction along Highway 73 includes replacing a deteriorating bridge at the intersection of Highway 73 and Little Cub Creek Road. The existing bridge is being replaced with a reinforced concrete box culvert. This will require relocation of utilities currently attached to the existing bridge. The project will also install a retaining wall along Cub Creek between Little Cub Creek Road intersection and Evergreen Fire Rescue Station #1. This retaining wall will allow for improvements to the left turn lane at Little Cub Creek Road intersection and provide space for a paved shoulder. The project will include a six-foot-wide paved shoulder on the east side of Highway 73. The paved shoulder will provide a pedestrian walkway from two public parking lots to be installed across from Evergreen Fire Station #1 and south of the intersection at Little Cub Creek Road to the sidewalk near the Denver Parks dam parking lot and downtown Evergreen.

Project Schedule:

  • The project begins in mid-May and is expected to be completed by November 30.
  • Normal working hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Some overnight work will take place on Highway 73 and Little Cub Creek Road.
  • Construction schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change.
